Spa in Launceston

Abs-Solute Health & Fitness in Launceston welcomes members from the surrounding areas to enjoy a brand new spa alongside our fully equipped gym, supporting relaxation, recovery and overall wellbeing.

Training hard is only one part of building fitness. Recovery plays an equally important role, and it’s often the part members overlook until fatigue or muscle soreness catches up with them. That’s why Abs-Solute Health and Fitness has built a dedicated spa area, set apart from the main gym floor, for members who want somewhere calm to recover after a fitness class or simply take some time out during the week.

The spa sits within our Launceston gym on the Newport Industrial Estate, and it’s included as part of the membership rather than offered as an add-on. Members can use it after a workout with a personal trainer, on a rest day, or as a standalone visit when the goal is relaxation rather than exercise.

We’ve kept the space intentionally small in terms of capacity. Access is limited to 10 users at any one time, which keeps the atmosphere calm and avoids the crowded feel that larger spa facilities can sometimes have. There’s no waiting around for a lounger, and no queuing for the steam room. The space simply feels quieter and more considered as a result. In our spa, you can find:

Sauna

The sauna holds up to six people and provides steady, dry heat that helps loosen tight muscles after exercise. Members who prefer an added layer of relaxation can request aromatic oils, which are available on request rather than added automatically, allowing each visit to feel a little different depending on preference.

Steam Room

Our steam room seats up to eight and uses a rotating scent infusion rather than a single fixed fragrance. Lemongrass has become a firm favourite among members recently, though the scent changes periodically, giving regular users something new to notice each time they visit. Steam therapy is widely associated with easing muscle tension and supporting respiratory function, and many members build a steam room visit into their post-workout routine for exactly that reason.

Jacuzzi

The six-person jacuzzi offers a warmer, more social space within the spa, and it tends to be popular with members looking to soothe aching muscles after a heavier training session. The combination of heat and water pressure helps ease stiffness in areas such as the shoulders, lower back, and legs, which often bear the brunt of strength training or long cardio sessions.

Flow and Resistance Pool

For members who want the sensation of swimming without needing a full-length pool, our flow pool pumps water towards the swimmer, creating resistance that can be adjusted to suit fitness level and goals. It’s an effective option for low-impact cardio, and it suits members recovering from injury just as well as those simply looking to add variety to their training. Because the resistance is adjustable, it works for a wide range of abilities within the same small footprint.

Cold Plunge

The cold plunge sits between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius, cold enough to deliver a genuine physiological response without tipping into discomfort for most users. Cold water immersion has grown in popularity among athletes and gym members alike, largely due to its association with improved circulation and faster muscle recovery. For many, it’s also simply a way to feel alert and refreshed, particularly after a steam room or sauna session, when the contrast in temperature adds to the effect.

Relaxation Space

Once the water-based facilities have done their work, two large, comfortable loungers provide a proper space to unwind. Calm spa music plays throughout the area, paired with a gentle scent diffuser that adds to the overall sense of stillness. An ice-cold water dispenser is on hand nearby, helping members rehydrate properly after time spent in the heat or cold, without needing to step back out into the main gym to find one.

Changing Facilities

The spa has its own luxury showers and changing spaces, kept fully separate from the main gym changing rooms. This separation matters more than it might first appear. It means members can move between a workout and a spa visit, or simply come in for the spa on its own, without the noise and pace of the main gym filtering into the experience. Secure bag storage and a separate bathroom are also provided, so everything needed for a visit is close to hand.

A Space Built Around Recovery, Not Just Relaxation

What sets this spa apart from a typical add-on facility is the intention behind it. Every element, from the temperature-controlled cold plunge to the scent rotation in the steam room, has been chosen with genuine recovery benefits in mind, not simply as a luxury feature. For members training regularly, this kind of dedicated recovery space can make a measurable difference to how quickly muscles repair and how well energy levels hold up across a demanding training week.
